Wetgeving bepaalt dat er geen gevaarlijke stoffen vanuit de verpakking in het voedsel terecht mogen komen die schadelijk zijn voor de gezondheid. Verpakkingen die gebruikt worden in de levensmiddelenindustrie, de horeca of de detailhandel zoals voorraadbakken moeten aan deze wetgeving voldoen. Een groot deel van Engels haar bakken en pallets (let op: glas/vork logo) is geschikt voor voedingsmiddelen voor deze bakken zijn verklaringen afgegeven.
